Objectives

  • To promote the use of lamb and wool product in Monroe County and surrounding areas.
  • To cooperate with and lend aid to educational projects and programs that include sheep and sheep products.
    •  Provide educational materials and programs for consumers and producers.
    • Encourage the participation of 4-H and FFA youth and support these youth programs.

Annual Events

  • Southern Illinois Sheep and Craft Festival - Annually in April
    • Includes sessions by sheep specialists, judging contests, spinning and craft demonstrations, shearing demonstrations, sheep dog demonstrations, sheep olympics, sheep pellet bingo, and other family activities such as kid's corner, performances by Thunder and Lightning Cloggers and an antique tractor display.  Throughout the day there will be taste samples, cooking demos and vacuum-packaged cuts of lambs available to purchase. A special feature of the day will be a LAMB LUNCH served from 11AM to 2PM, featuring various cuts of fresh locally grown lamb.
  • Wool Pool - Annually in June.
    • Provides producers a convenient location to market wool.
  • Sponsor the annual 4-H and FFA market lamb sale at the Monroe County Fair.

Membership is open to residents of any area, not restricted to Monroe County.
